today was an upset.

So being the supporter that I am, I must say that today was a HUGE disappointment. Yes, I am a Democrat, and yes I am proud to be an American, but most of all I am a Christian. Living on campus of a Christian school I am, as you would guess, surrounded by a lot of people that call themselves Christians. And I must say before you are a supporter of any specific party you are a Christian and you need to first and foremost act like it. The statuses on facebook and the comments I've been hearing today have made me sick to the core. I know that I would have been very upset if McCain were to win the presidency but I'm not too sure I would be making the statements that I have been hearing. For example today I was in a class...which is mostly Repulican and today was no different I was attacked and beaten down for statements that I had said. Unacceptable. We need to accept that what has happened in ultimately in God's hand and He is in control. Talking about what "could have been" is not going to change what is. You can't fight the force that created this universe so we need to begin to get united as a country and stand behind what has happened, and stand behind what cannot be changed.
I received this e-mail from a good friend that brought me to tears:
"...when that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day." God forgive America.

And I'm in tears.. Alleigh. The fact that people are like this hurts me to the core. I don't even know what else to say

Do you really think that God would allow something THIS MAJOR to happen without him having a plan? I dont. So let's have faith my Christian brothers and sisters, times are changing. It's time to accept it, and remember who has caused this change, the one and only Lord Jesus Christ.

one love,
a.

Yuck. Unfortunately you're learning all about religion and politics in America. It's dangerous to mix the two in mixed company. But don't let it make you disappointed. What you're experiencing as the worst of America is also the best of America: the right to say what's on your mind. That's why a filter is so important. And the only one that you can work on is you. So hold your head high. Choose when to speak and when to just listen. Use your journals and blogs to get things off your chest. Walk away when it gets too heated. Bless those that curse you and pray at all times. Speak to your fellow Christians with hymns, songs, and spiritual songs. Remember that Jesus said they will know we are Christians by our love for each other. Not by our political beliefs. Not by how many scriptures we can recite. Not by how often we go to church. But by our love for each other. And love is often an action first. Act as if you love those who are dancing around on your last good nerve and eventually you actually will.

Now...stop stewing over it. Take a break, realizing that people have been fighting this battle for generations. And every good battle needs some time to catch its breath. So go out and celebrate! Your candidate won! For you, the future looks bright. Don't let anyone snuff that out!

Wow! your mom has great advice!
I wish she were my mom. Will you adopt me, Dee?
That comment is so well spoken and eloquent, and just plain wise!
Alex, enjoy the victory. It is huge no matter what anyone says!

hallo, not sure if you know me, but anyway.

Yes i agree, people need to stop saying they're going to move to Canada and bashing others views.

One problem, you say that God has a hand in this, and yet when Christ was here on earth he deliberately and publicly stayed away from politics (i can't remember any exact verses right now).

In conclusion, i have to say that i am worried, not because obama won, i would be worried if mccain won too. I'm worried because people don't realize what it takes to make the changes that have been talked about. The world is changing, and from my perspective it looks like its for the worse.

So... sorry to intrude on you blog a little bit, but i avoided politics in mine on purpose but still wished to speak about it.

Have a nice day <:)

It makes me sad that I'm still feeling this today. Even though some people's statuses have changed and the comments aren't as loud or as frequent.

I'm just shocked at the true character of so many people.
